Sunnymead Estate is a Heritage Cottage and is one of the older surviving residences of Shimla. It is also considered to be one of the few extant remnants of (its) period architecture and décor. Sunnymead Estate design is an adaptation from an English Architectural Book by R.A. Briggs (still present in the house), constructed with the traditional local “Dhajji” methodology.
Opened to guests in 2011 to enable the property to pay for its upkeep and maintenance, Sunnymead is an attempt at both the conservation of a property and a way of life rather than purely a business venture. The house continues to be “in its original state”. Sunnymead is in essence a family home that we would like to share with like-minded people.
